After going to see the cliff divers we went to El Flamingo hotel. John Wayne and the first Tarazan owned this hotel in the 1960's until 1984. Sold the place to a guy that worked for them. Use to be one of the best hotels in Acapulco. Had pictures in the lobby area of different movie stars that come to the place. We had chips and salsa here they was so yummy.
Outside of San Diego Fort and Historical Museum really neat info on how this place ran if interested go to: http://acapulco.com/en/tours/fuete/index.html pictures of the kitchen and of the fort. Our boat in the back ground of the property.

Beautiful Bay of Acapulco very clean and beautiful here

This is a church that people are welcome of different faiths to come here and worship. The story behind this is: The family that owned this had 4 children 3 boys and 1 girl. The two older boys was flying from Mexico City to Acapulco and the plane went down. They had a very big search and couldn't find the plane or the boys. The parents prayed and told God if the boys was found they would do something wonderful in return. The next day they found the wreckage. So they started building the church, the hands are the boy's two right hands and the cross is 128 feet high. While building the wife got cancer and died the husband promised his wife that he would finish the work they had promised God. Took them two years to finish building and that same year the husband died. A boy died 6 ore 7 years ago leaving only the girl to look after the place. They are all under the A frame church and there is one spot left for the daughter.

From the church you can see this island that is shaped like a turtle.

After a long day of shopping and touring around Acapulco I was having a rest when Larry took a picture of me. Not seeing the WHOLE picture next to me.

Our ship at Zihuatanejo docked we had to be tender into shore. The boats on the side of the ship is what tenders us in. For those that haven't been on a cruise. The ship is over 3 football fields long it was like 320+ yards from point to tail.
We got to see crocodiles mating and more iguana's and pictures of the city

Kenny and Penny had asked us to get them some prilosec pills in Mexico. Hail or high waters we was going to find those pills to take back to them. Have you ever had Kenny on your butt all the time? I have, so now I have something to hold over his head come summer. We had to go down this street twice because our cab driver missed the pharmacy. We almost had to get out our paddles we was in a car like the white one in the picture.

The Quest was a game that started out fairly innocent asking for baby pictures, eyeglasses, then it went to adult humor. Bottom left picture the fellow leaving the group his name was Jim. He and his girl partner was involved in everything and anything that was going on on the ship. Karaoke was there big thing and they could not sing and I really don't think they drank all theat much. His girlfriend was oriental and she would sing Country Roads by John Denver how sad everyone started singing along with her she was so BAD. Tony and Brenda was ready to kill us for telling them to go to karaoke after hearing her. But we told them if they could do better get up and sing. They sat in the chair.

Our first stop at Manzanillo very pretty water a poor ship harbor town.
The local boys out fishing with leaded line and wrapping it around a board to roll in if they caught a fish.

This was called the black beach of the town on the other side on town was the white beach. We sat in silence a lot just looking at the scenery. Our cab driver didn't speak English. We had to go to the bathroom and didn't know how to say it so Larry pretended to unzip his shorts. Oh then pointed us in the way of a bathroom. Well we should know Spanish. Right.

Manzanillo at the black beach don't know a lot about this area. So just pictures and a little about each one.
After the beaches we went to see the Iguana's there was so many in the tree's. A guy stuck his head out and and motioned for us to come around. This was a scary part of town. They was working on cars and a paint shop here. We paid them a dollar to hold and take pictures of the Iguana's.

The first two pictures was iguana's running on top of a shed. The middle picture is I think baby iguana's. Larry was going to hold the iguana in the 3rd picture but they let him. They let us know that he would bite. So Larry decided he would let it be.

Our dining room table of entertainment each night. Most of the time it was Chris, Sherri, Tony,Brenda, Larry and Alyce. And of course our WONDERFUL waiter Rony and his assistant Mila. But some nights Maria/Brenda and George/Larry would come to the table. Tony and Brenda come to our table either the 2nd or 3rd night of our cruise. They was the late seating dining didn't like it so they changed to the early seating. Then they was put at a table for two. They didn't like that either so we got stuck with them. Brenda made a good impression guessing Larry and my ages. Mine was 48 years old Larry she guessed as 57 years old. Larry was bothered by that the entire cruise. He'd look in the mirror and say do I really look 57. The next night we ate together is when Brenda introduced herself as Maria and Larry was George. But we wouldn't let her live it down because Tony and Brenda was a little OLDER than us.
These two couples was so fun at our table. Tony and Brenda was so funny. Chris and Sherri was not at all like the rest of us. They was quiet at a loud naughty table.

I was trying to get our waiter dancing in the hall, walk way during dinner. I think Chris was praying that the 4 of us would shut up. LOL.

Last night of our cruise Feb. 6, 2010 was Legends Night. All week at 9:00 pm we would go to the karaoke lounge and listen to people sing. Some good, some not so good. But with a few drinks in you, everyone has talent. Even if it is embarrassing and wrong. Elvis made it to our Legends night. Thank heavens he is still alive or we would of never been able to see him perform. He done a good job.
Garth Brooks was from St. George, Ut Shane Hyde he had a big cheering section there was 4 families that we knew of from St. George so we had to cheer for the local. And of course Dean Martin sang Blue Eyes

The theater where all the shows held a lot of people but a lot of bad seats not able to see the performances good. Ricky Martin/Josh Jordan don't know him but that was his name was excellent. Played the part very good. Sonny & Cher was just plain funny.

Elton John was in his full glory to come on our ship. At karaoke we had a guy (Dean from Canada) we met go up behind this guy to the piano and pretend to play the piano like Elton.
Brittany Spears was able to put her messed up life oh hold to come sing to us. Her name was Moppy at karaoke and after singing her part her boyfriend went up and purposed to her.

The girl in the middle, when at karaoke trying every part to be able to sing and she wasn't good at all. But there was WORSE.

This is part of the group that dove into the waters. I video taped some of them and a little girl diving in also. The boy the highest up jumped and done flips and went feet first into the water. The band on his leg is the boy that jumps from the top. This was very neat to watch I wished we could of been down closer by the divers. We did have good seats when it come to leaving so the traffic of people wasn't bad. We rode around in a big van 10 people including the driver. He told us so much history of the place and where to buy goods and where not to buy, because it would be junk.
This cliff diving started when their people would go fishing and their hooks would get caught in the rocks below. They would dive in to release the hooks from the rocks they started doing it for the tourist to watch and make money.

The boys had to get in the water and swim to the other side. To do their show for us. This wall is straight up and down. Well almost.

Tuesday Feb. 2 we had booked a shore excursion for Acapulco our first stop was to see the cliff divers. This was so awesome to watch. I'm glad I didn't have to do it. Larry could of done it but not as high as the one boy. I had to get a picture of the puppy since I hadn't seen mine for a few days. The boy in the upper right picture didn't seem to be over 14 years old. But the older you get the younger these kids get.

Our get-away to Mexico Jan. 30, 2010 on a 8 night cruise leaving out of San Diego, Ca. We arrived in San Diego and was on board our ship Carnival Spirit around 1:00 p.m. The ship was to leave around 5:00 p.m. We had almost 3 days at sea to get to Acapulco. This was a relaxing trip for the both of us. And had so much fun being alone with my dear sweet husband. We didn't even fight. Neither of us could swim to shore so we had to get along. Our towel design in our room, I can't decide which one of us it resembles the most. HaHa... This was the first time we have had a window in our room. I had one with Lynn when I went with her March 2009. It was so nice so I made Larry let me have a window HE LOVED IT...We stayed in our room more..
